Work In Progress

A little bit broken
Some days way far behind
Seems like the more I look
well, the less I seem to find

Keepin’ both eyes heavy
on the cross
When they stray
I get impossibly lost

I’m a work in progress
What you see ain’t always what you get
loving the process
God ain’t finished with me yet

The more I fail
the more I understand
It’s not what I do
that takes the measure of a man

I’m not always sure
just what I’ll do next
But Jesus got the eyes
to see me out of context

They say we’ve been dying
since the day we’ve been born
This old bag of bones getting
battered, tattered, and torn

But the day I died
is the day I began to live
I’m running with broken legs
faster than I ever did
