Murder By Ballpoint Pen

Mary, Mary dignitary walked into the laundramat
She pulled the papers from the basket
The murder weapon in her hands

And saltwater bled the sentence but all the words could still be read
As she signed the line that sent the knife
Straight into her heart and head

And it’s no more anniversaries
No more “Remember Whens”
99 to life of “might have beens”

Gary, Gary ordinary got the papers yesterday
He pulled the cap from the weapon
And signed his whole life away

Now nothing seems to heal the wound or fill the hole left in his bed
And it screams empty every morning
Straight into his heart and head
